People of Napa Valley: Dr. Alex De Moraes

When it comes to medical care, nothing is better than the thoughtful and personalized attention of a doctor who truly cares. Providing concierge-based service to our residents, Dr. Alex De Moraes, M.D., gives up to an hour of his undivided attention to learn about their personal healthcare needs, answer questions, and treat their concerns. The service, which is available for an annual fee, involves “house calls,” as Dr. De Moraes and his colleagues will actually come to The Watermark to provide comprehensive, traditional medical services. In a place like Napa, where doctor appointments are hard to come by, the thorough, on-site visit is much appreciated.

Graduating from the University of Davis with a BS in human physiology, Dr. De Moraes went on to obtain his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin before completing his family medicine residency through UC Davis in Redding, CA. It was in Redding that he served as a family physician and associate medical director of a community-based health program for seven years.

In 2006, he and his wife, Juanita, moved to Napa, where he worked in private practice. A few years later, in 2010, he was recruited to help establish an internal medicine clinic in Bellevue, WA, with Overlake Hospital. At the same time, Dr. De Moraes also served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve as a flight surgeon. Although he retired from the military in 2012 after 28 years of service, that hasn’t stopped him from continuing to give back to the community. Today, Dr. De Moraes is in private practice with Napa Valley Personalized Health Care.

When he’s not busy caring for patients, he enjoys traveling with his wife, hanging out with his three dogs, mountain biking, camping, and fly fishing. Stay tuned as Dr. De Moraes is currently in talks to bring his philosophy of “prevention is the best medicine” to The Watermark with a series of seminars on preventative care.
